I thought I might as well introduce myself for those who don't know me.
My name is Francesca (Fran), I am 21 years old and graduate from the Fashion Retail Academy back in June. I studied level 4 Buying & Merchandising and loved every minute of it!
Whilst at the Academy I had the opportunity to do various types of work experience. I did 3 weeks and BHS and Heal's as well as going to the New Look HQ, which I organised myself. Whilst at the New Look HQ, I was offered an interview on my last day and succesful secured a job during my last month at the Academy.
I worked at NL for the next 9months on their Online Brands team. I enjoyed this a lot and got a real knowledge for merchandising and buying and the way head office environments work.
As I live in Bracknell but had a job in London, it was becoming a lot to take on with getting up at 5o'clock on a Monday morning to make sure I was on time to run the Monday trade reports. Luckily a job came up in the Primark HQ, which is only 20min down the road from where I live so I decided to apply.
Again, I was succesful in securing a job on their men's accessories team! I am waiting to start on 2nd January! I am really excited to start this new challenge as it is store based and on a much bigger scale than New Look Online Brands.
As this will be a fresh start, I thought I would keep some sort of diary of everything I do in a day as a trainee merchandiser. I am hoping this will give people who are interested in this industry a better insight of what a merchandiser does to start out! :-)
